Overview

The Intellectual Property Cell focuses on promoting and safeguarding intellectual property rights and aims to create awareness about the same. This includes raising awareness about copyright laws, patent laws, trademark laws, and other relevant laws and regulations that govern intellectual property rights.

The IP Cell undertakes various activities to achieve its objectives. They organize seminars, workshops, and training sessions to educate students, faculty members, and staff about intellectual property rights and the importance of protecting them. The Cell also collaborates with external organizations and industry experts to provide guidance and support to students who wish to pursue entrepreneurship and innovation.

  2. To conduct workshops, seminars and training courses on IPR.
  3. To provide advice for filing various forms of IPR protections.
  4. To conduct certificate courses on IPR protection.

Activity Conducted during 2021-22

1. Webinar on IPR
The IP Cell of Al-Azhar Law College, conducted a Webinar on IPR on the topic, A RELOOK INTO THE PARLIAMENTARY STANDING COMMITTEE REPORT ON IPR’ on 22nd October, 2021 at 10.00 am.
The following speakers graced the session:
1.      Ms. Shalini Bhutani, Legal Researcher and Policy Analyst
2.      Ms. Prathibha Sivasubramanian, Researcher, Third World Network
3.      Ms. Anubha Sinha, Senior Researcher, Centre for Internet & Society
The Webinar was conducted via Zoom Meeting and it sensitized the students about the then burning Intellectual Property issue under consideration in the Parliament.  

Activities Conducted during 2022-23

   1. Online Certificate course on Intellectual Property Right – Theory and Practise

The course is offered to provide practical aspects of IP protection, mainly on filing and prosecution of various forms of IP in India. 64 students have registered for the course and out of which 8 are outside the institution. It is scheduled for a period of 30 hours on Saturday and Sunday. We have engaged renowned resource persons to engage the sessions from Kerala as well outside the State.

   2. Celebrated World Intellectual Property Day

We celebrated World IP Day on April 26 and organized a talk on this years’ theme “Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity”. The resource person was Ms. Suji Cherian, Assistant Professor, Bharata Mata School of Legal Studies, Choondy, Aluva. 
The resource person had provided an in-depth knowledge to the students about the importance of IP and the identifying different kinds of IP which are seen in the present universe. She also mentions about the need to encourage women creators to get into the IP regime. The session was for an hour.
